A Much-Needed Addition to a Resilient Community

Located on the northern side of Mexico Beach, right at the corner of 32nd Street and Highway 98, Seaside Marketplace will be situated just beside the local favorite, Mango Marley’s restaurant. Backed by the same folks behind the popular Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe, this new store will bring trusted service and familiar faces to the heart of Mexico Beach.

The design is said to feature a classy, modern coastal aesthetic—a perfect fit for the town’s breezy charm. While details are still coming in, current projections suggest the store will occupy roughly 7,000–8,000 square feet, offering a solid footprint for groceries, fresh produce, beach snacks, and everyday essentials.

But more than just a place to shop, Seaside Marketplace represents something greater: a long-awaited return of convenience and community connection.

The Nearest Grocery Store? It’s Been a Bit of a Trek..

From October 10th, 2018 to now, Mexico Beach residents and vacationers have had to travel out of town just to pick up groceries. The closest option has been Duren’s Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe, a local favorite known for its friendly service and wide selection—but it’s still about a 20-minute trip from the heart of Mexico Beach.

Even further away, some folks make the drive to Panama City, Callaway, and Lynn Haven, where there are larger chain stores and more variety—but also more traffic, longer drive times, and a lot less beach-town charm.

For a growing coastal community like Mexico Beach, not having a local grocery store has been one of the few pieces still missing from day-to-day convenience. That’s what makes the arrival of Seaside MarketPlace such a big deal. Whether you’re a full-time homeowner, a weekend visitor, or staying in a vacation rental, being able to shop right here in town is going to make life in Mexico Beach even more enjoyable.

A Major Step Forward Since Hurricane Michael

It’s been over six years since Hurricane Michael devastated Mexico Beach in 2018, taking with it homes, businesses, and the town’s only grocery store at the time. Residents and visitors alike have felt the impact ever since—often traveling to nearby towns just to grab their weekly groceries.

This announcement is not just exciting—it’s symbolic. It shows just how far Mexico Beach has come. And it’s proof that this resilient community is not just rebuilding—it’s growing.

A Bright Future for Mexico Beach Real Estate

As more amenities like Seaside MarketPlace come to life, they add tremendous value to the area for both homeowners and investors.
